One cold, wet, and windy night, my buddy and I had a big dinner and decided to walk a bit afterwards. We talked about work and blah blah blah before a red lantern caught our attention.
It was a street food stand in an alley of the main road and it was selling hot almond tea.
Freshly made everyday, the almond tea can be served by itself, or with black sesame and chopped nuts, or deep fried Chinese donut stick, or all of the above.
Almond tea contains no tea but it’s called tea as tea also means drink in Chinese.
It is sweet, creamy, and full of flavour. Black sesame and chopped nuts add extra character and enhance the taste and texture. The Chinese donut stick is dipped in the creamy tea and it is surprisingly warming.
